Acoustics – Research for underwater communications systems, including unique applications of materials, and including the development of advanced sensors and acoustic components.

Computer Systems – Infrastructure and capabilities for networking, computing, and software development with specific expertise in data base development, data mining and ubiquitous computing.

Electronics – In addition to electronic prototype and pilot manufacturing process development, laboratory specializes in nondestructive testing, image restoration, and digital signal and image processing.

Environmental Chemistry – This laboratory, which is equipped for spectophotometry, atomic absorption spectometry and ion exchange chromatography, has core strengths in water and wastewater treatment, decontamination, and hazardous waste treatment.

Materials– Research on the properties of material matrices and aggregates, including the recycling of waste materials, with specific application to highway pavement products.

Prototype– Capabilities for the shaping and forming of metal, plastic and wood for purposes of developing product prototypes and manufacturing processes.

Telecommunications– Electromagnetic research for wireless telecommunications and remote sensing, including antenna development, signal processing, and fundamental near field propagation modeling.

Textiles– Research and development for fundamental textile materials and associated fabrics, including process application and optimization, chemical treatment and finishing, and new product development and innovation.

Micro-Machining– The Photonics Laboratory at the ATMC contains an Excimer Laser based Micro-Machining Center with the capability of processing a wide range of materials

Multi-Purpose– The ATMC has several multi-purpose labs, which are available for Industry Partnership projects as well as Technology Venture Center companies.
