Paul Calvert – Textiles & Advanced Materials

Paul studied Materials Science at Cambridge University and MIT and then joined the faculty of the School of Chemistry at the University of Sussex from 1972 to 1988. He was professor in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Arizona from 1988-2003 and has been chair of the Materials and Textiles Department at UMassD for 2 years. His current research areas are biomimetics, inkjet printing of materials and biomaterials but have also included ceramics, metals, joint diseases, composites and polymers. He has about 200 publications and 6 patents. He is also on the Scientific Advisory Board of ICI, editor of the journal Materials Science and Engineering (Biomimetics) and on the editorial boards of Advanced Materials, Advances in Applied Ceramics and Biomaterials Science and Engineering.
