Leonard W. Coriaty – Improving Workforce Development
A proud native of Massachusetts' SouthCoast region, Leonard W. Coriaty has devoted the past 30 years developing quality workforce training systems and initiatives for public and private businesses and workers throughout the region.
Beginning in 1975, Mr. Coriaty spent 8 years coordinating Comprehensive Employment & Training Act (CETA) programs in Fall River, a role that led him to manage a $2.4M Public Service Employment Program.
Moved by the lack of businesses that had achieved world-class competitiveness, Mr. Coriaty started private consulting, and for 10 years offered state-of-the-art training and implementation support to local businesses. During this time, Mr. Coriaty also served the needs of workers as an Instructor at Bristol Community College (BCC) and as Project Manager for BCC's Center for Business & Industry.
In 1995, Mr. Coriaty accepted his current role as Executive Director of the Greater New Bedford Workforce Investment Board (then called the Regional Employment Board).
As the steward of more than $6M in annual workforce development funds, Mr. Coriaty builds strong partnerships with public and private sector leaders, and implements innovative workforce programs that benefit the 10 communities of Greater New Bedford.
Mr. Coriaty holds a BS in Management from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, and has continued professional development through George Washington University, Boston University, Dale Carnegie, and Productivity, Inc. among others.
Mr. Coriaty and his wife Diane reside in Dartmouth Massachusetts and are the proud parents of two sons, Ryan and Justin.
